This new way of work is growing rapidly. According to the Upwork Freelance Forward Report, freelancing is at an all-time high, with freelancers making up 38% of the U.S. workforce. And older adults are a major part of this workforce, with 8.3 million freelancers over age 59.

There are thousands of opportunities to earn income as a freelancer across all sorts of industries — and there are companies looking for remote help right now.

The “What Is Freelancing?” Coffee Chat is a 90-minute interactive workshop and discussion group. We’ll go over the basics of what it means to be a freelancer, the types of available opportunities, and some of the administrative responsibilities that come with this kind of work. We’ll also have an engaging discussion about the unique experiences that adults over 50 have as freelancers and how to navigate the online freelancing market.

By the end of this workshop, you’ll have a better understanding of what freelancing is, whether freelancing is the right path for you, and what others who have taken this journey before have learned. All this should help you decide if and how you start as a freelancer online.
